  1. Applications of Artificial Intelligence for Demand Forecasting

    Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly contributed to the growth of various sectors and industries. One of the most significant contributions of AI applications is in forecasting. Consumer demand fluctuates faster than ever as a result of economic growth, advances in technology, and higher customer expectations, making forecasting future demand more difficult. Demand forecasting is a vital operation of supply chain management that aids in the best matching of supply and demand. Thus, improving demand forecasting accuracy is critical for companies and supply chains. Thanks to AI, businesses can accurately predict customer behavior. The study aims to provide a comprehensive review of how AI has been applied to forecast demand over the last decade. This research collects articles published between 2013 and 2023. According to the findings, AI is increasingly being used for demand forecasting in recent years. Energy and water demand forecasts receive the most attention. Long Short-Term Memory has gained prominence because of its advantages. Besides, this study will highlight the challenges of the adoption of AI. One of these challenges is selecting different reliable and suitable forecasting inputs for each AI method. This review will help supply chain managers and analysts select and implement suitable forecasting methods. Furthermore, this study will suggest some future research directions.

  2. A Historical Review on Omni Channel Retailing Consumer Research

    Consumer research is crucial in omnichannel retailing and is considered a primary focus in distribution management. This article presents an objective, systematic, and comprehensive review of the current literature on omnichannel consumers. We aim to systematically map the knowledge of omnichannel consumer research's thematic structure, theory, and methodology. We employed an integrated approach to analyze 152 journal articles, using bibliometric methods, including country and citation analysis, co-citation networks, literature coupling, thematic mapping, and historical citation networks. We conducted an exploratory analysis of selected studies to examine the features of countries, journals, authors, highly cited literature, and trends in this field. Additionally, the study underwent bibliometric analyses of keyword co-occurrence, bibliographic coupling, historical citations, and co-citation analysis. The keyword co-occurrence analysis was based on the frequency and importance of keywords, identifying four distinct clusters. The findings reveal that omnichannel research is a growing field. Scholars have examined omnichannel consumers from multiple perspectives, utilizing different research methods and theoretical foundations. However, further research is needed to explore omnichannel consumers in more countries and address factors such as regional and cultural differences. This research employs advanced tools for the first time to review the literature on omnichannel consumers and provides a comprehensive view of the topics of importance discussed in the literature on omnichannel consumer management. This study will provide insights for practitioners and academic researchers to improve decision-making and develop strategies.

  3. Diminishing Profitability? Technology Adoption Capability and Its Impact on Firm Performance: The Case Study of Distribution Firms in Indonesia

    Motivated by the trend of decreasing profitability among Indonesian firms, this paper investigates the impact of key variables related to technology adoption capability and strategy execution–including technology assessment, incentive structures and control mechanisms, as well as information flow and decision-making authority–on the performance of firms within Indonesia's fast-moving consumer goods distribution sector. The empirical strategy employs a unique approach for data gathering by utilizing a micro-survey of 393 fast-moving consumer good distributor firms in Indonesia to analyze this relationship. This study enriches the continuing discussion of the service and cost trade-off in supply chain management. It proposes an alternative perspective where the roles of technology adoption capability and strategy execution are considered. The key findings suggest that firms can improve both service and cost simultaneously by maintaining a high level of technology adoption capability and ensuring robust strategy execution. Finally, this study may contribute to the ongoing scholarly debate on the impact of technology adoption on firm performance and enable practitioners to take appropriate action when strategizing technology adoption to improve performance.

  4. Emerging Topics in Supply Chain Management Literature: A Scientometric Analysis

    The purpose of this article is to analyze the intellectual structure of the supply chain management (SCM) field, identify publishing patterns, and measure interest in the topic across fields, journals, regions, and institutions. The investigation focuses especially on the most recent publications to identify emerging topics in the field. The analysis was performed on a sample of 11,085 SCM publications indexed in the Web of Science and published between January 2010 and August 2021. Authors’ productivity was analyzed in terms of the number of published works and the number of times cited. Finally, the citation counts for individual articles captured the most fundamental works and gauged new dominant interests in the field. The results indicate that the number of publications more than doubled after the beginning of 2018, especially articles focusing on supply chain sustainability and green supply chains. The document co-citation network helped outline the dominant themes in the SCM literature: supply chain integration, green SCM, sustainable SCM, supplier selection, and supply chain risk management. Most importantly, emerging SCM topics were identified: SCM critical success factors, blockchain technology, big data analytics, and the circular economy.

  5. Hybrid Clustering Strategy for Micro-hubs Location in Newspaper Distribution

    Facility location is one of the most critical factors in urban logistics planning, and the newspaper industry is no exception. Given the time-sensitive nature of newspapers and their narrow delivery time windows, efficient distribution network planning becomes essential. This research addresses the micro-hub location problem within the context of newspaper distribution across the Área Metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá in Medellin, Colombia, by developing a novel hybrid clustering strategy. We compare five clustering techniques: K-means, K-medians, K-medoids, Agglomerative Nesting (AGNES), and Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN). Our strategy first uses AGNES (with single-linkage) to identify high-density regions and subsequently applies K-medoids within these identified areas to form compact clusters. Results demonstrated the superiority of the hybrid clustering strategy over both K-means and the individual clustering techniques. The hybrid approach generates more cohesive clusters, as evidenced by superior silhouette coefficients and within-cluster variance. The clustering proposal allowed 90% of customers to be located within 1.6 kilometers of a micro-hub, improving the distribution of newspapers in the urban areas.

    Advances in new technologies and the management of complex supply networks have allowed firms to make their supply chains more flexible, responsive, and efficient. Organizational learning, improved IT capabilities, and new manufacturing technologies are among the drivers of these supply chain improvements. This study investigates the effectiveness of organizational learning in the context of a Closed-Loop Supply Chain (CLSC). We apply the Monte-Carlo simulation methodology to a case of military CLSC involving line-replaceable units (LRUs). Priority is put on minimizing downtime in the equipment caused by LRU failures. Additionally, we consider costs and the environmental footprint. We incorporate organizational learning into the simulation in two ways. Namely, improved failure rates and shorter lead times. This study presents a set of quantitative assessments on the effectiveness of several organizational learning interventions in a military CLSC. The results indicate that learning leading to product improvement has the largest impact on overall inventory cost reduction. This study contributes to the current research on CLSC value creation by quantifying the concrete implications of specific interventions using realistic data in a military CLSC. In addition, this study contributes to the growing literature on CLSC value creation in general, and in CLSC informational value research more specifically. However, this study focuses on a specific intervention, representing only a few ways in which value can be created in a CLSC. By providing managers with quantitative results regarding CLSC interventions, this research can aid managers in making better decisions regarding CLSC investments.

  7. Key Directions for Transforming Supply Chain Management in Emerging Markets during the Post-COVID-19 Pandemic Period

    This research aimed to identify the main directions for transforming supply chains in emerging markets to enable timely managerial responses to the challenges and opportunities during the post-COVID-19 pandemic period. The analysis of theoretical sources resulted in the formulation of the following research hypotheses: (H1) Sustainable development of supply chains in emerging markets during the post-COVID-19 pandemic period can be achieved through the digital transformation of supply chains; (H2) The most promising direction for transforming supply chain management in emerging markets during the post-COVID-19 pandemic period is ensuring digital readiness of supply chains. The research employs a quantitative approach, and its methodological design is based on this approach. Primary data for the study was collected through a structured online survey using Google Forms as the survey tool. During the analysis of the primary data, a combination of general scientific and specialized methods of cognition was applied, including econometric and economic-statistical methods, as well as a graphical representation of data. The developed methodology was validated through its application to the case of BRICS countries. The results of the validation allowed us to establish that the primary direction for the transformation of supply chains during the post-COVID-19 pandemic period should be considered digital transformation. The findings of this research may be of interest to supply chain management professionals in emerging markets and also hold relevance for academic researchers, particularly in terms of identifying promising directions for future investigations.

    Companies must navigate the ever-evolving customer demands, technological advancements, and environmental and social considerations in today's dynamic market to develop innovative, high-quality products. Success requires understanding, prioritizing customer needs, exceeding expectations, and adopting a systematic and comprehensive approach. This paper proposes an advanced process for new product development by integrating the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) with the existing Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology. A case study of the design of teabags is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of this framework. This study introduces a unique approach that integrates TRIZ tools within the DFSS methodology, leveraging DFSS as the structural foundation while harnessing TRIZ to stimulate creativity and innovation. This integration enhances product design by strategically applying TRIZ tools within specific stages, providing a novel perspective distinct from conventional DFSS practices. The result shows that companies can better understand their customers' needs using this integrated approach and create innovative, high-quality products that exceed expectations.

  9. A Supply Chain Perspective Reviewing Shoring Cases

    Shoring trend of supply chains has changed over the decades. In the initial stages it mostly concerned about offshoring, however, recently it has changed to reshoring. This study focuses on the mainstreams of shoring case studies from the supply chain perspective with a systematic literature review. We identified 22 supply chain shoring cases from the initial pool of thousands of supply chain case studies. Publishing activity was increasing until 2010, but thereafter it has been sporadic. It could be concluded that shoring always contains numerous risks. As failures were also reported, it is simply so that not too much weight should be placed on costs and locating only to one country. Based on research works, global sourcing will continue in the future, however, new locations and practices shall prevail. Single-sided reshoring supply chains back to developed economies is not the only answer due to costs and supply chain tensions.

  10. New Approach for Evaluating Berth Allocation Procedures Using Discrete Event Simulation to Reduce Total Port Handling Costs

    The berth allocation problem (BAP) is a significant problem in operational or tactical planning in maritime logistics. The BAP total cost of port handling consists of demurrage/despatch and operational costs from loading and unloading facilities. The BAP becomes more complex because of the uncertainties of ship arrival, unloading time, and the interdependence between loading and unloading processes, which may cause an unpredictable completion time. This study aims to evaluate berth allocation procedures to reduce the total port handling costs. The discrete event simulation (DES) approach is used to determine the best BAP procedure and to obtain the optimal number of facilities in the BAP. Twenty scenarios are generated by combining various dock and ship selection rules. In operational planning, the chosen scenario can save the company 0.125 financial units annually regarding total port handling cost. Meanwhile, optimization tools are employed in tactical planning to reveal the ideal number of unloading facilities used. The best scenario of tactical planning can reduce total handling cost by 15% or 3.209 financial units by adding more resources in unloading facilities, such as cranes and trucks, and implementing certain mechanisms in selecting ships and docks. Lastly, sensitivity analysis is performed to test the robustness of the simulation model by modifying several influential parameters, such as (i) material type, (ii) ship arrival rate, (iii) operational cost rate, (iv) demurrage rate, and (v) target unloading rate. This type of analysis also aims to find under what condition the selected scenario will be changed from what was initially chosen. The selected scenario on tactical planning is chosen as a basis, and it is revealed that the selected scenario remains consistent although the ship arrival and operational cost rate is increased. However, the selected best scenario will change when the material type changes and the demurrage rate or target unloading rate increases.

  11. Total Quality Management 4.0 Framework: Present and Future

    Utilising socio-technical system theory, this study explores the Total Quality Management 4.0 (TQM 4.0) framework on the integration of quality management principles and industry 4.0 tools. The systematic literature review technique was applied to 203 articles from the Web of Science database to establish a theoretical framework for TQM 4.0. After an in-depth analysis of twenty key papers, twenty-one indicators for TQM 4.0 practices are proposed. Using the Pareto analysis, thirteen of the most important are identified. The research also explores the five major pillars of TQM 4.0, including technical elements, social elements, smart organisation, smart factory, and smart product. The study thoroughly understands TQM 4.0 and its related trending topics by employing a bibliometric technique to examine the publications’ keywords. The result of the bibliometric analysis shows that TQM 4.0 research addresses not only issues associated with Industry 4.0 techniques, such as big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning but also digital transformation, sustainability, and quality culture. Especially organisational performance has been a relatively recent topic of interest to TQM 4.0 researchers. The study provides a TQM 4.0 framework for scholars to conduct additional research and for practitioners to implement the TQM 4.0 to gain long-term sustainability, as well as provides an overview of the current TQM 4.0 and suggests possible future research trends in the TQM field.

  12. Risk Management in Reverse Supply Chain for Sustainable Agri-food Industry: A Systematic Literature Review and Future Research Agenda

    In implementing a Reverse Supply Chain (RSC) for food waste products, several risks must be borne by producers or third parties. This research aims to identify risks in RSC operations, analyze existing methods and approaches, and improve a further framework model for managing the risk of RSC for the sustainability of the agricultural food industry. Using the PRISMA protocol, data was collected from a systematic review and synthesis of 78 articles published between 2012 and 2021. The result showed that although several research have been carried out on RSC risk, there is still very little research on risk management in the agri-food industry. It also found the potential aspects for future research in managing RSC risk in the agri-food industry, include process risk by considering product damage, supply-demand uncertainty, quantity and quality product return uncertainty, transportation and technology, and financial and environmental risk. According to the literature, MILP and integration with other approaches are frequently used in decision-making to manage the risk of RSC. Exploration of future research requires developing RSC risk management in the integrated agri-food industry. Furthermore, it is important to optimize the risk management of the RSC by considering the complexity of the risk and designing the sustainability of the RSC network in the agri-food industry. Focus is presently on the Hybrid Intelligent Decision Support System (HIDSS) approach for the development of a concept is the most appropriate new concept to reduce various types of risks in the RSC of the agri-food industry.

  13. The Interaction Effect of Manufacturing Flexibility and Quality Management on Environmental Performance

    Previous research suggested that manufacturing capability played an important role in enhancing environmental performance. The two dimensions of manufacturing capability, namely manufacturing flexibility and quality management, have been suggested as drivers for environmental performance. Unlike previous studies, we use a sample of 597 firms in Korea to investigate manufacturing flexibility, quality management, and their interaction international effect on environmental performance. It was found that manufacturing flexibility and quality management are positively associated with environmental performance. Additionally, their interaction was negatively related to environmental performance due to the trade-offs between the two, such as regarding organizational structure and culture. This study offers a novel perspective to the literature on environmental management by revealing such negative interaction because manufacturing flexibility and quality management are the main elements of manufacturing capability, and thus, firms should handle both appropriately.

    The Fourth Industrial Revolution (also known as Industry 4.0) is a global strategy that blends various technologies tools by merging the physical and digital world boundaries. While Oman launched the Sultanate of Oman Logistics Strategy (SOLS) in 2015, logistics is one of the vision's pillars. Both strategies have resulted in a divergence in business strategy orientations, resulting in a misalignment of the national target. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between SOLS 2040 and Industrial 4.0 strategies incorporating an analytic induction method, which is a systematic way of validating the correlation between both strategies. A systematic analysis revealed a positive correlation between the two visions, owing to the importance of technology in achieving the SOLS 2040 vision. The correlation between SOLS 2040 and Industry 4.0 is an important step toward developing a comprehensive framework for the Oman logistics industry that will benefit all stakeholders.

    The aim of acquiring competitive advantage by concentrating on core activities and outsourcing non-core activities has increased the demand for third-party logistics services. Therefore, the relationship between the third-party logistics providers and customers is important. This study examined the role of switching costs in the relationship between third- party logistics customers and providers, and the effects of power exercised by third-party logistics providers over third-party logistics customers on trust and commitment in the UK. An analysis of 192 completed questionnaires showed that switching costs had a negative relationship with coercive power and a non-significant relationship with legitimate power. Switching costs were positively correlated with non-coercive power (information, referent, expert and reward power). There was a significant negative correlation between coercive power and normative commitment, whereas coercive power had a non-significant correlation with instrumental commitment. The effect of coercive power on trust was negative, but non- coercive power was positively correlated with trust. Non-coercive power (information, referent, expert and reward power) was positively related to both normative and instrumental commitment.

  16. Reverse Logistics Inefficiencies: A Multiple Case Study Analysis of Food Supply Chains from Pakistan and Malaysia

    The purpose of this study is to examine the fundamental roadblocks of reverse logistics (RL) process in the food supply chains (FSC). This paper employs an exploratory approach with multiple case study perspective to examine RL inefficiencies within two contexts namely, Pakistan and Malaysia. Backed by an extensive review of recent literature of various types of challenges and hurdles of RL design and implementation, the study proposed a framework to mitigate all the risks and hurdles. Qualitative data was collected through semi-structured interviews followed by thematic analysis for the identification of RL inefficiencies in FSC. Findings demonstrated that although both countries have different reverse logistics designs, they face common issues in terms of managing complexity, communication, financials, and waste. The framework has practical implications in guiding the logistics and supply chain professionals for the effective design and development of RL strategy and best practices in food sector.

  17. On the Effectiveness of Option Contracts under Supply Disruption

    This paper studies the effectiveness of implementing option contracts for the procurement of seasonal products subject to short selling season, demand uncertainty, and supply-side disruption. The research intends to show how profitability and product availability can be enhanced both locally and globally by combining the long-term wholesale price contract and option contracts. Using the newsvendor model, the paper aims to identify business settings with respect to disruption parameters, demand uncertainty, and the option pricing under which the use of option contracts could improve supply chain performance. The main contribution of this research is that the effectiveness of option contracts is investigated under the impact of the supply-side disruption in addition to the demand uncertainty. The option contract-based portfolio procurement displays significant performance enhancement in terms of both the retailer profitability and the reduction in the lost sales quantity when supply-side disruptions prevail. The study of the procurement management subject to seasonal disruption can be readily applied to numerous business situations where the disruption can lead to devastating impacts such as the insufficient or untimely supply of COVID-19 vaccines with limited shelf life.

  18. From Wireframe to Dashboard – Creating Transparency in Supply Chain Networks

    In this research, we take a wireframe network (tiered visualization of the nodes and edges in a supply chain network) and describe how it can be transformed into a dashboard. A dashboard is a form of data visualization which provides at-a-glance views of key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to a particular objective or business process. We then identify several dimensions of information which should be included in the dashboard, such as structural, geographic as well as financial layers. The resulting dashboard tool is broad-based since, depending on the goal of the analyst, further layers may be applied to the structure. The information can then help improve the understanding of the supply network beyond confirming what is already known. This paper describes the information framework for the dashboard. The knowledge that is obtained through the analysis of the dashboard will yield areas for improvement and greater efficiency in the supply chain, reduce the chances of disruption and enable the supply chain to stay competitive.

  19. Evolution of Performance Measurement Research: An Update on Research Development from 2005 to 2020 and Future Outlook for the Field

    Research in performance measurement has been growing rapidly over the past seven decades, and it has explored a wide spectrum of issues in multiple industries and sectors, from assessing airports’ efficiency to proposing frameworks to improve supply chain management. The field has also attracted the attention of scholars to conduct several literature reviews to understand the evolution of the research in the field, given its multidisciplinary nature. Given the sustained academic interest in this field and lack of consensus on its maturity, this paper uses co-occurrence, citation, and co-citation analyses to examine the field's research development and academic maturity. Findings from this study inform the performance measurement literature in three ways; by highlighting the absence of adequate examination of effectiveness, an essential complement to the extensively studied efficiency in the current literature; by indicating ‘practical implementation’ as the current stage of research evolution of the field; and by emphasizing the need to adopt novel theoretical perspectives. It also extends the literature review previously conducted by other scholars (from 1950 to 2005) to update the research community on developments in the field from 2005 to 2020. This paper argues that while this research area has shown signs of academic maturity and professionalism, there seems to be continued reliance on a limited number of works despite the field entering a practical implementation phase. Finally, this study proposes a path for empirical verification for some of the key theoretical foundations found in the literature.

  20. A Study of Different Croston-Like Forecasting Methods

    Croston presented an idea and method to separate ordinary exponential smoothing in to two parts: the time between demand (= withdrawals) and demand size. The forecasts then update only when there is a demand. Since then, modifications and alternatives to Croston’s idea have been suggested, i.e. techniques to handle intermittent demand. We test from the beginning four different suggestions to treat intermittent demand or slow-moving demand. The tests showed that some complementary modifications were interesting to investigate. We compare the different techniques with Mean Squared Error (MSE), Cumulated Forecast Error (CFE) and with a new bias measure “Periods in Stock” (PIS). Our tests show that Croston’s original is to prefer; some techniques overestimate and others underestimate demand in certain circumstances; one technique is not to prefer at all. Underestimate leads to shortages and lost sales; lost income is worse than temporarily increased inventory holding costs. We suggest an indicator or rule: when not to forecast and not to stock at all and only restock when a demand occurs. Finally, we discuss the challenge to implement these techniques in practical inventory control.

  21. Stakeholder Engagement for Green Process Innovation: Exploring the Link and Boundary Conditions

    Despite the growing research attention towards the role of stakeholders in developing green innovations, there is limited understanding of the mechanism and specific firm-level conditions under which stakeholder engagement enhances green innovation. Drawing on the Stakeholder theory and the Natural Resource Based View, this paper theorizes that absorptive capacity and risk-taking behaviour are underlying mechanisms and boundary conditions respectively in the stakeholder engagement-green process innovation relationship. The model is tested with survey data obtained from manufacturing firms in Ghana. The results show that absorptive capacity mediates the relationship between stakeholder engagement and green process innovation. Also, the relationship between stakeholder engagement and green process innovation is conditioned by risk-taking behaviour. The implication of these findings for theory and practice is discussed in the text.

    This paper aims to examine the current challenges faced by Malaysian hospitals during the post-COVID-19 pandemic. This paper employs a subjective environmental scanning approach and a review of the current literature and outlines the challenges as well as proposed mitigation measures to address these concerns. Based on a review and analysis of the literature, the key challenges that the Malaysian healthcare system is struggling with include misinformation and disinformation, high hospital bed occupancy, ICU management crisis, acute shortage of healthcare professionals, treatment delays among non-COVID patients, personal protective equipment (PPE) shortage, occupational burnout, and mental health issues among healthcare professionals, blood supply management issues, challenges concerning treatment, and the challenges concerning vaccination. Several mitigation measures have been proposed as a solution. This research draws the attention of hospital management and policymakers to the issues they confront during the post-COVID-19 pandemic so that suitable solutions may be developed to address them. Findings and suggested mitigation measures can add considerable value to current academic work, and deepen knowledge along with the development of a successful healthcare supply chain system. This study is among a few of its kind that offers mitigation measures for diversifying the healthcare business by venturing into the supply chain system.

    This study investigates optimal inventory positioning in multi-stage supply chains by utilizing a mixed-integer nonlinear programming model that incorporates a scenario-based disruption delay, and the subsequent expediting to mitigate inventory shortages. The goal is to determine the amount and positioning of inventory in the supply chain to minimize the total inventory and expediting costs, subject to meeting customer service requirements. Discretization techniques are applied to linearize non-convex objective functions and reformulate the problem as an equivalent mixed-integer linear programming, which can be solved by the standard solvers. To demonstrate the model, numerical experiments are conducted to determine the optimal solution under different disruption scenarios. These experiments provide interesting insights regarding inventory decisions that can serve as guidelines for building resilience in the supply chain.

    Integrating logistics across channels is crucial to omni-channel (OC) retailing success. OC retailers need to re-examine current logistics strategies to adapt them to OC systems. Implementing OC logistics in retail necessitates the integration of various sub-dimensions within the logistics domain while considering technical, managerial, behavioural, and infrastructure restrictions. Logistics integration is challenging in the OC retailing environment due to the unstructured approach. The purpose of this study is to identify and prioritise barriers to OC logistics in retail, as well as to provide a framework for managing their systematic elimination. A review of the literature and expert opinion revealed twenty-six impediments. Using Fuzzy Interpretative Structural Modelling (FISM), the researchers developed a hierarchical model of the barriers. Following that, a Fuzzy Matrice d’Impacts croises-multiplication applique (FMICMAC) analysis of the barriers helped determine the relative efficacy of the barriers in causing impediment. The study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on OC retailing by resolving the logistics integration issues that impede effective OC logistics implementation. The article fills a substantial void in the literature by developing a structured framework for comprehending and prioritising the logistical problems associated with OC logistics deployment. Modelling the OC logistical barriers' interrelation offers a better understanding of their relationship dynamics, hence easing their gradual eradication. The findings contribute to OC literature by examining the critical logistics resources required for establishing OC logistics, an area of OC retailing literature that has received disproportionate attention. The study contributes to the OC literature by identifying ‘soft’ resources that contribute to the development of logistics capabilities. The findings fill a significant vacuum in the literature on OC logistics by examining the intricate link between the tangible and intangible logistics resources required for improving logistics capabilities.

  25. Sequential Impact of Green Supply Chain Initiatives on Sustainable Performance: Food and Beverage Processing SMEs in Australia

    External Pressure and Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) drive green initiatives but their synergistic effects on Green Supply Chain Initiatives (GSCIs) are yet to be explored. Moreover, results of three elements of the triple bottom line sustainability show mixed relationship in the order they affect each other. Drawing on the Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV) and institutional theory, this research empirically investigates a theoretical model by examining: first, the impact of GHRM practices and external pressures on GSCIs; second, the impact of GSCIs on environmental performance; and third, their sequential effects on social and economic performance. Cross-sectional survey data from 168 SMEs in the Food and Beverage sector in Australia were analysed using structural equation modeling. Results reveal that GHRM practices and external pressures have positive effects on GSCIs that in turn affects sequentially on environmental, social and economic performance. Social dimensions, however, have no significant effect on economic performance. Meanwhile, GSCIs mediate the relationships between GHRM practices and external pressures and environmental performance. Implications are drawn.

    The functioning of modern distribution centers is impossible without the effective organization of the work of mobile material handling equipment, which is the main means of processing cargo flows in warehouses and directly affects the costs and time of warehouse operations. The article proposes the mathematical model for determining the optimal number of forklifts in the distribution center based on integer programming using the open queuing network model. The model reflects the peculiarities of the technological process of cargo handling in the distribution center and the participation of forklifts in it. Given the impossibility of using exact optimization methods because of the type of the objective function, the heuristic method is proposed for solving the problem, which allows for avoiding the complete enumeration of solutions and finding the optimal number of forklifts in a short time, considering different scenarios and operating modes of the distribution center. The advantage of this heuristic algorithm is its ability to determine the optimal number of service channels in high dimensional open queuing networks. The minimum of total service costs, which include operating costs for the maintenance of forklifts and cargo flow handling costs, were used as an optimization criterion. The model is an effective tool for decision making when equipping distribution centers with mobile material handling equipment.

    Supply Chain Finance (SCF) improves the business efficiency and effectiveness of suppliers, distributors, buyers, and financial institutions within supply chain collaboration. SCF implementation has risen to prominence worldwide, smoothing physical, product, and information flows within the supply chain as a means of maximizing profits. Due to a lack of research into SCF-related factors, solutions and benefits, this paper utilizes a systematic literature review methodology and content analysis to examine 56 papers drawn from major academic databases. The findings incorporate theoretical framework reviews which help to explain how SCF solutions can leverage enhanced supply chain (SC) performance by demonstrating the potential application of SCF to assist facilitators, reduce obstacles to sustained SC performance and develop an integrated conceptual framework illustrating how SCF accelerated overall supply chain performance.

  28. EcoMCS: A Project Management Application Through Management Control Systems for Residential Construction Firms in Colombia

    This research article aims to introduce a novel project management application, denominated EcoMCS, based on Management Control Systems (MCS) assessment to improve the performance of residential construction firms in Colombia. The study is grounded in the conceptualization of project management and MCS and builds upon an interview study conducted with managers of residential construction firms in the country. Our findings revealed that the economic dimension is the least developed, indicating a need for improvement. The project’s specific objectives include enhancing the MCS’s economic dimension, refining evaluation methods for goal fulfillment, implementing incentive programs, fostering decentralized decision-making, and nurturing human potential within residential construction firms. By addressing these objectives, the proposed EcoMCS application seeks to facilitate efficient and effective project management practices in the residential construction industry, ultimately contributing to more sustainable and cost-effective construction projects.

    This paper presents a solution to a challenge faced in the supply chain management of a spare parts distributor with a dispersed global supply network and local distribution network in Morocco. The problem is a lack of accurate lead time information, leading to difficulties in meeting customer demand. The proposed solution is a framework using an LSTM (Long Short Term Memory) model for lead time forecasting and anomaly detection. The framework combines CNN (Convolution neural network) -Bidirectional LSTM model for forecasting and an LSTM autoencoder with One-Class Support Vector Machine for anomaly detection. The data was obtained from a legal ERP system of a major automotive distributor in Morocco. The results show that the framework is effective in overcoming the lead time information issue, and the relevance of the methods used has been verified via precise performance indicators, such as the RMSE (Root of the mean of the square of the errors) testifying to the accuracy of the results and also through comparison with other models.

For this purpose, 177 responses were collected by surveying employees of procurement departments of the manufacturing and service industry. The finding of this research shows that buyers’ ethical environment has a strong positive impact on supplier performance, considering trust as a mediator. Similarly, the buyers’ ethical environment has a positive impact on the trust in a buyer-supplier relationship. The findings of this research can help procurement managers and executives to enhance supplier performance in their procurement department by facilitating suppliers and strengthening their trust in buyer-supplier relationships.

    Predictive analytics is a methodology used to predict the outcome of future events with the use of historical data. Predictive analytics comes in very handy in various fields such as finance, manufacturing, healthcare, and even supply chain. Not only in those fields, but predictive analytics is also useful in managing inventory. However, we find that there is a lack of studies focusing on the implementation of predictive analytics to predict inventory status (overstock, understock) by considering inventory level and demand forecast. This study is inspired by a real-world problem at one of the largest FMCG companies in Indonesia. With so many product types to manage, this company often faces problems of understocked and overstocked inventory. This study attempts to solve that problem by employing big data and predictive analytics approaches. The gradient boosting model is used because it is an improvement of the decision tree model. The data that are used as predictors are inventory level, inventory week cover, historical sales, and demand forecast. The target variable for classification is inventory status which is divided into three classes, namely understock, normal, and overstock. Meanwhile, the target variable for the regression model is the amount of understock/overstock. The result of the classification model has an accuracy of 0.84 for category 1 products, 0.76 for category 2 products, and 0.74 for category 3 products. While the result of the regression model is an R2 of 0.89 for category 1 products, 0.76 for category 2 products, and 0.74 for category 3 products. The data that comes from the prediction model are visualized in a dashboard. The visualization dashboard displays the data using heatmaps and line graphs, so the information can be used for further analysis.

    COVID-19 has stunned the whole economy and has been unveiled as a colossal threat to global supply chain management. This paper has tried to assess the implications of COVID-19 on different areas of the supply chain and the profitability of different industries in Bangladesh. The study is based on a questionnaire survey of three major industries of Bangladesh: textile, pharmaceuticals, and banking sectors conducted from December 2021 to February 2022. Descriptive statistics and t-tests for mean differences were used to analyze the data and they are displayed across tables and graphs. It is found that supply chain aspects like raw material, labor, manufacturing facility, import/export, product/service, revenue, and profit are significantly impinged by the pandemic. Furthermore, the supply chain of the manufacturing sector is more affected than that of the service sector, and statistically, significant differences are evidenced between manufacturing industries. The findings and recommendations of this study will have policy implications for regulators, companies, suppliers, investors, and customers. This is a pioneer study to investigate the implications of the pandemic on the supply chain fields.

    Today’s business environment can be considered a competition of supply chains, not individual enterprise competition. Accordingly, companies have made great efforts to build efficient supply chains to improve competitiveness and secure competitive advantage. Based on this background, this study examined the impact of information sharing, which is an important factor in supply chain management, on two types of trust (cognitive trust and emotional trust) and commitment level. Specifically, this study suggested information sharing as an antecedent factor of cognitive trust and emotional trust and examined the relationship between the two types of trust and commitment level. Data were collected through a survey targeting workers in supply chain-related departments in three major new industries in Korea (automobiles, bio-health, and semiconductors); a total of 214 responses were used for the empirical analysis. By employing a structural equation model for the research model, information sharing was found to positively affect cognitive trust and emotional trust. Furthermore, the two types of trust had a positive impact on the commitment level of companies in the supply chain. Therefore, it is important to build mutual trust to create a sustainable relationship with another party in the supply chain and, for this, it is necessary to understand the importance of information sharing.

    With the advent of "Industry 4.0" and the associated disruption caused by such rapid digital transformation, the logistics industry was able to develop cross-border delivery and increase demand for any given product. However, the risks associated with Cross-Border Reverse Logistics (CBRL) remain largely unexplored, and there is a paucity of research in this area. Hence, this study's objective is to investigate the e-commerce delivery system and CBRL model of a major fashion brand. The study is based on a case study approach comparing the CBRL processes of the Zara official site with one of their main channel partners, Alibaba. Data was collected through archival records, a secondary data bank and interviews with Zara representatives for a deeper analysis. The analysis reveals that both Zara and Alibaba's official sites currently have issues with their CBRL operations. The development of cross-border logistics represents a great opportunity to improve current Zara's and Alibaba's e-commerce platforms business model. In a very competitive market, a lack of a cross-border logistics system could represent a potential loss. Compared to local reverse logistics, cross-border remains at a relatively primitive stage. However, local reverse logistics can provide insights to Zara and Alibaba towards developing and improving CBRL. The case findings lay the foundation for a better understanding of CBRL e-commerce's challenges and support the need to optimize these systems to improve customer service in China.

    We propose innovations and improvements of curricula for majors in Operations Management (OM) and Information Technology (IT). New methodologies for optimizing curricula for OM and IT consider the latest needs of employee markets served by these two majors. A holistic, learning-centric approach seeks to increase the capacity of OM and IT students to achieve the future they want. Overlooked subject areas for these curricula often include soft skills, change management, systems thinking, and testing, among others. We use the paradigm of the supply chain to suggest how industry engagement can influence OM and IT curricula. Such content could then be expanded over more than just four collegiate years by including OM and IT course content in high school curricula. We suggest a methodology for employer-driven valuation/grading of every potential and actual course in the OM and IT curricula. We take a holistic, systemic view that will help stimulate and pilot new ideas for OM and IT curricula.

    The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted various aspects of society, and research has been published across different sectors beyond healthcare. This article presents the results of a literature review in Hospital Supply Chain management (HSCM) to identify current and future research areas. The literature review identified four main research themes associated with the scope of HSCM, the flow type, and the approaches employed. The results of this study suggest that COVID-19 is a catalyst for short- and long-term changes that require the attention of researchers, strategies to incorporate 4.0 technologies, and integration of different stakeholders to improve the resilience and sustainability of the Supply Chain (SC) in future pandemic scenarios. This paper provides relevant information to the implementation for future research regarding the management of the HSCM for the post-pandemic period.

    Drawing on resource dependence theory (RDT), the objective of this study is to empirically explore supply chain disruptions of COVID-19, and suggest strategies to mitigate them. In-depth interviews were conducted with supply chain professionals working in the Electrical & Electronic (E&E) industry in Malaysia. Interviews were analyzed by following seven steps of the van Kaam method. Findings suggest six strategies: global command centre with daily planning cycle to mitigate component shortages; collaboration with suppliers to mitigate glove shortages; assist local suppliers in obtaining permits to mitigate disrupted manufacturing; dual sourcing to mitigate single-sourcing disruptions; collaboration with freight carriers and government agencies to mitigate disrupted freight; and ERP-integrated EDI to mitigate disrupted data sharing. The findings offer strategies for managers to de-risk their supply chains in post-COVID-19 era, and it could be applied further in similar future supply chain disruptions.

    Indonesian Red Cross (IRC) is assigned to operate the blood bank in Indonesia’s blood supply chain system. Due to the system decentralization, the regional blood banks are responsible for providing blood supply in their municipal area. Blood banks need to meet certain performance indicators to minimize shortages and outdated blood bags and generate sufficient income to cover operational costs and organizational development. This research aims to build a blood-bank management model by focusing on a multi-product arrangement and considering the unpredictability of supply and demand. Discrete event simulation was used to model the actual system and evaluate policy options to enhance blood bank performance. The simulation experimentation examines four control variables: supply arrangements based on Fixed Location Service (FLS), Mobile Unit Service (MUS), inventory target, and the setting of output product percentages. This study successfully provided solutions that can enhance the quality and efficiency of blood bank services. In this study, each scenario reveals the trade-off between the extent of the shortage and the level of obsolescence. The regulatory environment where donors are recruited greatly impacts shortages, obsolescence, and net income. Blood bank management must create an optimum targeted service level and revenue expectation to make strategic decisions.

    Forest supply chain has drawn increasing attention worldwide. This paper develops a supply chain risk (SCR) framework in the forest industry. Forest supply chain risk has become an obstacle to gaining competitive advantages and developing sustainable forestry. However, very few studies attempt to investigate SCR in an integrated forest supply chain. It is essential to understand and manage these risks, which may impede the industry’s performance improvement. An extensive literature review, and Delphi study are performed to develop and identify the major forest SCRs. The result has shown that the five types of forest SCRs are recognized. In this study, we extend SCR into the forest sector and contribute to the forest supply chain management literature. Further research is needed to address specific problems associated with types of SCRs and develop appropriate forest SCR mitigation strategies in contexts.

    Firms face several challenges related to sustainability in global logistics operations. In response to this new dynamic, logistics has evolved into what is now known as smart logistics or Logistics 4.0, which has been in constant change for the past 10 years. This evolution has occurred within the framework of Industry 4.0 and has been called to be the pillar that guarantees sustainability in firms through the development and implementation of innovative and disruptive technological solutions. A systematic analysis of the literature related to the role of logistics 4.0 in business sustainability in the agro-industrial sector was carried out. A bibliometric and content analysis was performed on the 56 publications identified from 2015 to 2021 in the Scopus, ScienceDirect and Springer databases. The bibliometric research method used was the joint analysis of keywords using VOSviewer, followed by a content analysis of the selected articles. The bibliometric analysis made it possible to identify that publication in this field is low and growing. Logistics 4.0 contributes considerably to the sustainability of firms in general, and even more to the agro-industrial sector through digital technologies and new business models, allowing the creation of competitive advantages in agro-industrial firms.

    This study analyses the impact of digitalization on the Buyer Supplier relationship (BSR) in the context of Industry 4.0. An empirical qualitative research methodology was employed, with semi-structured interviews conducted with 23 procurement specialists from service sector organizations in India to obtain empirical data. A qualitative content analysis was then conducted to arrive at common patterns and ideas. The study found that procurement specialists perceive that digitalization has an overall positive impact on buyer supplier relationship. However, it is important to exercise diligence during the implementation of any digital tools to restrict dissatisfaction, and human touch is essential in certain areas like negotiation and conflict management. Additionally, data analysis can provide strategic advantages, but the quality of input data must be considered. The study highlights the positive and negative impacts of digitalization on BSR and provides implications for research and corporate practice. It is recommended that future studies should qualify the results by analyzing the BSR in relation to supplier type, as well as by considering other digital technologies such as Machine learning and Artificial intelligence.

    The agricultural sector is one of the potential sectors for the economic development of the Indonesian nation and the improvement of rural community welfare. Therefore, it needs to be well-managed, including through the provision of adequate supporting facilities such as transportation equipment that is suitable for the characteristics of the agricultural sector. PT KMWI is one of the companies that produces specialized transportation equipment designed to support agricultural activities in rural areas, known as the Multifunctional Rural Mechanized Tool (MRMT). The production involves several businesses and industries that are established within an MRMT automotive industry cluster. Effective cooperation and collaboration among the stakeholders in the industry cluster significantly determine the efficiency and effectiveness of the products produced. Therefore, it needs to be well-managed, and risk management needs to be implemented to maintain its functional stability using the House of Risk (HOR) method. From the application of HOR 1, the multistakeholder approach yielded the Combined Aggregate Risk Potential (CARP), and 6 priority risk potentials were selected based on a Pareto chart, which resulted in the determination of 13 mitigation actions. The risk potential with the highest CARP value among the priority risks is risk factor (A4) inaccurate demand forecasting. Then, the 13 mitigation actions were assessed using HOR 2, the multistakeholder approach, to obtain the Effectiveness to Difficulty (ETD) value of each mitigation action for every stakeholder.

    Teledermatology is part of telemedicine which provides remote services of skin disease diagnosis for patients by utilizing information and communication technology. This system has been used for decades and is increasingly used especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, none of the existing studies have reported the existence of an integrated web-based and mobile-based teledermatology application that integrates Artificial Intelligence. Hence, in this study, we propose the use of the so-called Intelligent Teledermatology System (ITDS), and how this system can support the healthcare supply chain. The development of ITDS complies with the Case-Based Reasoning approach. This system consists of three main functions: management information system, point of services, and intelligent systems. The ITDS provides complete features so that the supply chain of remote services for skin disease diagnosis can be delivered to patients. Furthermore, this system provides a classification function as part of a decision support system for dermatologists in making diagnoses. In terms of the supply chain, we have described that the supply chain concept is also applicable to services like teledermatology. Hence, the Intelligent Teledermatology System can be used to support the healthcare supply chain in this case the skin disease diagnosis services.

    Today’s business environment can be considered a competition of supply chains, not individual enterprise competition. Accordingly, companies have made great efforts to build efficient supply chains to improve competitiveness and secure competitive advantage. Based on this background, this study examined the impact of information sharing, which is an important factor in supply chain management, on two types of trust (cognitive trust and emotional trust) and commitment level. Specifically, this study suggested information sharing as an antecedent factor of cognitive trust and emotional trust and examined the relationship between the two types of trust and commitment level. Data were collected through a survey targeting workers in supply chain-related departments in three major new industries in Korea (automobiles, bio-health, and semiconductors); a total of 214 responses were used for the empirical analysis. By employing a structural equation model for the research model, information sharing was found to positively affect cognitive trust and emotional trust. Furthermore, the two types of trust had a positive impact on the commitment level of companies in the supply chain. Therefore, it is important to build mutual trust to create a sustainable relationship with another party in the supply chain and, for this, it is necessary to understand the importance of information sharing.

    With the advent of "Industry 4.0" and the associated disruption caused by such rapid digital transformation, the logistics industry was able to develop cross-border delivery and increase demand for any given product. However, the risks associated with Cross-Border Reverse Logistics (CBRL) remain largely unexplored, and there is a paucity of research in this area. Hence, this study's objective is to investigate the e-commerce delivery system and CBRL model of a major fashion brand. The study is based on a case study approach comparing the CBRL processes of the Zara official site with one of their main channel partners, Alibaba. Data was collected through archival records, a secondary data bank and interviews with Zara representatives for a deeper analysis. The analysis reveals that both Zara and Alibaba's official sites currently have issues with their CBRL operations. The development of cross-border logistics represents a great opportunity to improve current Zara's and Alibaba's e-commerce platforms business model. In a very competitive market, a lack of a cross-border logistics system could represent a potential loss. Compared to local reverse logistics, cross-border remains at a relatively primitive stage. However, local reverse logistics can provide insights to Zara and Alibaba towards developing and improving CBRL. The case findings lay the foundation for a better understanding of CBRL e-commerce's challenges and support the need to optimize these systems to improve customer service in China.

    We propose innovations and improvements of curricula for majors in Operations Management (OM) and Information Technology (IT). New methodologies for optimizing curricula for OM and IT consider the latest needs of employee markets served by these two majors. A holistic, learning-centric approach seeks to increase the capacity of OM and IT students to achieve the future they want. Overlooked subject areas for these curricula often include soft skills, change management, systems thinking, and testing, among others. We use the paradigm of the supply chain to suggest how industry engagement can influence OM and IT curricula. Such content could then be expanded over more than just four collegiate years by including OM and IT course content in high school curricula. We suggest a methodology for employer-driven valuation/grading of every potential and actual course in the OM and IT curricula. We take a holistic, systemic view that will help stimulate and pilot new ideas for OM and IT curricula.

    The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted various aspects of society, and research has been published across different sectors beyond healthcare. This article presents the results of a literature review in Hospital Supply Chain management (HSCM) to identify current and future research areas. The literature review identified four main research themes associated with the scope of HSCM, the flow type, and the approaches employed. The results of this study suggest that COVID-19 is a catalyst for short- and long-term changes that require the attention of researchers, strategies to incorporate 4.0 technologies, and integration of different stakeholders to improve the resilience and sustainability of the Supply Chain (SC) in future pandemic scenarios. This paper provides relevant information to the implementation for future research regarding the management of the HSCM for the post-pandemic period.

    Drawing on resource dependence theory (RDT), the objective of this study is to empirically explore supply chain disruptions of COVID-19, and suggest strategies to mitigate them. In-depth interviews were conducted with supply chain professionals working in the Electrical & Electronic (E&E) industry in Malaysia. Interviews were analyzed by following seven steps of the van Kaam method. Findings suggest six strategies: global command centre with daily planning cycle to mitigate component shortages; collaboration with suppliers to mitigate glove shortages; assist local suppliers in obtaining permits to mitigate disrupted manufacturing; dual sourcing to mitigate single-sourcing disruptions; collaboration with freight carriers and government agencies to mitigate disrupted freight; and ERP-integrated EDI to mitigate disrupted data sharing. The findings offer strategies for managers to de-risk their supply chains in post-COVID-19 era, and it could be applied further in similar future supply chain disruptions.

    Indonesian Red Cross (IRC) is assigned to operate the blood bank in Indonesia’s blood supply chain system. Due to the system decentralization, the regional blood banks are responsible for providing blood supply in their municipal area. Blood banks need to meet certain performance indicators to minimize shortages and outdated blood bags and generate sufficient income to cover operational costs and organizational development. This research aims to build a blood-bank management model by focusing on a multi-product arrangement and considering the unpredictability of supply and demand. Discrete event simulation was used to model the actual system and evaluate policy options to enhance blood bank performance. The simulation experimentation examines four control variables: supply arrangements based on Fixed Location Service (FLS), Mobile Unit Service (MUS), inventory target, and the setting of output product percentages. This study successfully provided solutions that can enhance the quality and efficiency of blood bank services. In this study, each scenario reveals the trade-off between the extent of the shortage and the level of obsolescence. The regulatory environment where donors are recruited greatly impacts shortages, obsolescence, and net income. Blood bank management must create an optimum targeted service level and revenue expectation to make strategic decisions.

    Forest supply chain has drawn increasing attention worldwide. This paper develops a supply chain risk (SCR) framework in the forest industry. Forest supply chain risk has become an obstacle to gaining competitive advantages and developing sustainable forestry. However, very few studies attempt to investigate SCR in an integrated forest supply chain. It is essential to understand and manage these risks, which may impede the industry’s performance improvement. An extensive literature review, and Delphi study are performed to develop and identify the major forest SCRs. The result has shown that the five types of forest SCRs are recognized. In this study, we extend SCR into the forest sector and contribute to the forest supply chain management literature. Further research is needed to address specific problems associated with types of SCRs and develop appropriate forest SCR mitigation strategies in contexts.

    Firms face several challenges related to sustainability in global logistics operations. In response to this new dynamic, logistics has evolved into what is now known as smart logistics or Logistics 4.0, which has been in constant change for the past 10 years. This evolution has occurred within the framework of Industry 4.0 and has been called to be the pillar that guarantees sustainability in firms through the development and implementation of innovative and disruptive technological solutions. A systematic analysis of the literature related to the role of logistics 4.0 in business sustainability in the agro-industrial sector was carried out. A bibliometric and content analysis was performed on the 56 publications identified from 2015 to 2021 in the Scopus, ScienceDirect and Springer databases. The bibliometric research method used was the joint analysis of keywords using VOSviewer, followed by a content analysis of the selected articles. The bibliometric analysis made it possible to identify that publication in this field is low and growing. Logistics 4.0 contributes considerably to the sustainability of firms in general, and even more to the agro-industrial sector through digital technologies and new business models, allowing the creation of competitive advantages in agro-industrial firms.

    This study analyses the impact of digitalization on the Buyer Supplier relationship (BSR) in the context of Industry 4.0. An empirical qualitative research methodology was employed, with semi-structured interviews conducted with 23 procurement specialists from service sector organizations in India to obtain empirical data. A qualitative content analysis was then conducted to arrive at common patterns and ideas. The study found that procurement specialists perceive that digitalization has an overall positive impact on buyer supplier relationship. However, it is important to exercise diligence during the implementation of any digital tools to restrict dissatisfaction, and human touch is essential in certain areas like negotiation and conflict management. Additionally, data analysis can provide strategic advantages, but the quality of input data must be considered. The study highlights the positive and negative impacts of digitalization on BSR and provides implications for research and corporate practice. It is recommended that future studies should qualify the results by analyzing the BSR in relation to supplier type, as well as by considering other digital technologies such as Machine learning and Artificial intelligence.

    The agricultural sector is one of the potential sectors for the economic development of the Indonesian nation and the improvement of rural community welfare. Therefore, it needs to be well-managed, including through the provision of adequate supporting facilities such as transportation equipment that is suitable for the characteristics of the agricultural sector. PT KMWI is one of the companies that produces specialized transportation equipment designed to support agricultural activities in rural areas, known as the Multifunctional Rural Mechanized Tool (MRMT). The production involves several businesses and industries that are established within an MRMT automotive industry cluster. Effective cooperation and collaboration among the stakeholders in the industry cluster significantly determine the efficiency and effectiveness of the products produced. Therefore, it needs to be well-managed, and risk management needs to be implemented to maintain its functional stability using the House of Risk (HOR) method. From the application of HOR 1, the multistakeholder approach yielded the Combined Aggregate Risk Potential (CARP), and 6 priority risk potentials were selected based on a Pareto chart, which resulted in the determination of 13 mitigation actions. The risk potential with the highest CARP value among the priority risks is risk factor (A4) inaccurate demand forecasting. Then, the 13 mitigation actions were assessed using HOR 2, the multistakeholder approach, to obtain the Effectiveness to Difficulty (ETD) value of each mitigation action for every stakeholder.

    Teledermatology is part of telemedicine which provides remote services of skin disease diagnosis for patients by utilizing information and communication technology. This system has been used for decades and is increasingly used especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, none of the existing studies have reported the existence of an integrated web-based and mobile-based teledermatology application that integrates Artificial Intelligence. Hence, in this study, we propose the use of the so-called Intelligent Teledermatology System (ITDS), and how this system can support the healthcare supply chain. The development of ITDS complies with the Case-Based Reasoning approach. This system consists of three main functions: management information system, point of services, and intelligent systems. The ITDS provides complete features so that the supply chain of remote services for skin disease diagnosis can be delivered to patients. Furthermore, this system provides a classification function as part of a decision support system for dermatologists in making diagnoses. In terms of the supply chain, we have described that the supply chain concept is also applicable to services like teledermatology. Hence, the Intelligent Teledermatology System can be used to support the healthcare supply chain in this case the skin disease diagnosis services.
